Vrksasana-The Tree Pose

The word Vrksa means tree. Hence Vrksasana or the Tree Pose.

1.Stand in Tadasana or Samasthiti

2.Bend the right leg at the knee and position the right heel at the root of the left thigh resting the foot on the left thigh with toes pointing downwards.

3.Balance on the left leg and join the palms and raise the arms straight over the head.

4.Breathing deeply stay in the posture for a few seconds.

5.Lower the arms, release the palms, straighten the right leg and stand in Tadasana

6.Now repeat the pose placing the left heel at the root of the right thigh resting the foot on the right thigh with palms joined straight over the head.

7.Stay for the same length of time and come back to Tadasana and relax.

Vrksasana tones the muscles of the leg and endows one with balance and poise.
