Anantasana Or Sleeping Vishnu Pose
'Ananta' is one among the names of Lord Vishnu, one of the trinities in Hinduism. The term 'Ananta' also signifies Lord Vishnu's couch. Hence this asana assumes the name 'Anantasana' or the 'Sleeping Vishnu Pose'.
1.Lie flat on the back. Turn the body to the left, resting the side well on the floor.
2.Lift the head and stretch the left arm in line with the body beyond the head. Bend the left elbow and raise the fore arm to rest the head on the palm above the ear. Remain in this pose for a few seconds.
3.Bend the right knee and hold the right big toe with the right thumb and the fore and the middle fingers. 4.Exhale and stretch the right arm and right leg up, vertically together and remain in this position for about 15 to 20 seconds breathing normally.
5.Exhale and bend the right knee and return back to the position described in point 2.
6.Remove the head from the left palm and roll over on the back to lie flat on the back.
7.Repeat the pose on the right side for the same length of time and then relax.
