Is 786 important?
786 is one combination of digits that many of us have read, seen and talked about. Many people who apply for a new car number, house number, telephone numbers etc make a special request to get a number that has these three digits. 786 is a three digit number that is considered very scared and powerful by many people. But there is also a group of people that do not believe in the importance of 786 in Islam. So is 786 important?
The basic foundation of Islam is,' La illah ila allah mohamed rasoul allah' meaning there is no God but Allah and Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him) is his messenger. Muslims believe that God is Allah and he is incomparable. They also have firm faith that Islam is a complete and universal version of primordial faith. They consider that the Quran is the final revelation of God. For Muslims, Quran is the one complete book that teaches them the way to live life. The sole importance of 786 is that the Arabic letters of the opening phrase of the Quran sums to the numerical value 786. The numerological value of 786 refers to phrase " Bismillaah al-Rahmaan al-Raheem " (in the name of Allah, the compassionate, the merciful) which Muslims often uses when they start doing anything important and significant in their life.

However many Muslim scholars believe that not all Muslims from all over the world think the same way and consider 786 as the number of Allah. They believe that Muslims mostly residing in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Myanmar use 786 as a substitute for the phrase Bismillaah al-Rahmaan al-Raheem. Many a time, scholars have doubted that 786 has any value in Islam. They also say that as a true Muslim one must follow the words of Quran and teaching of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and there is no discussion about 786 in the Quran.
In order to support their view they also say that Tawheed (oneness of God) is the belief on which the foundation of Islam is laid. And if we associate anyone with Allah's name whether orally or practically, it will result to infidelity that is an unforgivable sin. They further say that Quran warns us and says that Allah will never allow him (those who practice infidelity) to enter paradise. Therefore they also warn us that 786 must not be used as a substitute to Allah's name.
