The Yaksha began to question Yudhisthira thus:
Yaksha:"From where does the sun rise?" (From where does the jeeva rise?)
Yudhishtira:“The sun rises from Brahman" (Truth) (Jeeva rises from the Vedas)
Yaksha: "Who are his helpers?"
Yudhishtira: “The deities are his helpers" (Sense control etc, are his helpers)
Yaksha: “Where does he set?" (Where does the jeeva set?)
Yudhishtira: “He sets into Dharma?" (Jeeva sets in the cave of the heart
Yaksha: “In what is he established,In truth he is estabished?"
Yudhishtira: “In pure Chinmatra it is established" (This dialogue indicates the problems of life, the different paths, the karma and the need for the study of scriptures in order to liberate oneself.)
Yaksha: “How can one become learned in Vedas?"
Yudhishtira: “By hearing the Vedas explained by an Acharya"
Yaksha: “How does one know the Brahman?"
Yudhishtira: “By austerity one comes to know the Brahman"
Yaksha: “How does one become intelligent?'
Yudhishtira: “One becomes intelligent by serving the old and the wise"
Yaksha: “Enjoying the sense-objects, respected by the world; who, though intelligent does not live even though breathing?"
Yudhishtira: “One who does not do sacrifice in the name of deities, guests, servants, ancestors, and self, does not live though physically breathing"
Yaksha: “What is heavier than earth?'
Yudhishtira: “Mother is heavier than earth"
Yaksha: “'What is loftier than the Sky?"
Yudhishtira: “Father is loftier than the Sky"
Yaksha: “What is more swift than the Wind?"
Yudhishtira: “Mind is more swift than the wind"
Yaksha: “What is more worthless than grass (to be thrown away)?"
Yudhishtira: “Worrying must be thrown away as more worthless than grass"
Yaksha: “Who is the friend of a wanderer?"
Yudhishtira: “A goal (or an object) (or company) is a friend"
Yaksha: “Who is the friend of a householder?"
Yudhishtira: “Wife is the friend of a householder"
Yaksha: “Who is friend of a diseased?"
Yudhishtira: “A Doctor is a friend of a diseased"
Yaksha: “Who is the friend of dying man?"
Yudhishtira: “Charity is the friend of a man on death-bed"
Yaksha: “Who is a universal guest for all beings?"
Yudhishtira: “Fire is the universal guest for all"
Yaksha: “What is the eternal Dharma?"
Yudhishtira: “Immortality is the Eternal Dharma"
