Soma Pradosh Vrat 2026 will be observed on Monday, August 10, during the holy month of Shravan. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Pradosh Vrat is observed on Trayodashi Tithi. When Pradosh falls on a Monday, it is known as Soma Pradosh. Devotees observe the vrat, perform Shiva puja during Pradosh Kaal and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Soma Pradosh Vrat 2026 Date And Tithi
Soma Pradosh Vrat 2026 falls on August 10, Monday. It will be observed during Krishna Paksha Trayodashi in the month of Shravan.
The Trayodashi Tithi begins at around 8:00 AM on August 10 and ends at around 4:54 AM on August 11. The main puja is traditionally performed during Pradosh Kaal, the evening period around sunset. Since Pradosh timings vary by location, devotees should check their local Panchang for the exact puja time.
Soma Pradosh Vrat 2026 Significance
Pradosh Vrat is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is observed on the 13th lunar day. When it falls on Monday, it becomes Soma Pradosh, combining the traditional significance of Somwar and Pradosh.
Shravan is considered an especially auspicious month for Shiva worship. Therefore, Soma Pradosh during Shravan holds special importance for devotees. Devotees can follow their family or regional traditions. A commonly followed puja includes:
- Take a bath and wear clean clothes.
- Take a sankalp to observe the vrat.
- Perform Shiva puja during Pradosh Kaal.
- Offer water or perform Shiva Abhishekam.
- Offer bilva leaves, flowers, incense and a diya.
- Chant "Om Namah Shivaya."
- Offer fruits or traditional naivedya.
- Listen to or recite the Pradosh Vrat Katha.
- Conclude the puja with Shiva aarti and prayers.
Soma Pradosh Vrat Fasting Rules
Fasting practices vary according to individual and family traditions. Some devotees observe a strict fast, while others consume fruits, milk or permitted vrat foods.
There is no single fasting method that applies to everyone. People who are pregnant, elderly, unwell or taking medication should avoid restrictive fasting and follow a form suitable for their health and circumstances.
