April 2023 is a month to celebrate festivals of the national and international significance. Communities celebrate the festivals earmarked for them enthusiastically. Diverse cultures, and ethnicities carry on their celebrations on the stipulated dates with no hurdles which means our country is secular. April is the harbinger of spring and it brings along with it memorable and important festivals of which mahaveer Jayanti, Hanuman Jayanti, Baisakhi Akshay Tritiya and Sita Navami are significant.

Mahaveer Jayanti: 4 April 2023

Mahavir was the last tirthankar of Jainism and this day is celebrated in the memory of this great spiritual teacher. The entire Jain community observes this day on a grand scale. He was the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism and his birthday is being celebrated as Mahaveer Jayanti which is regarded as the most sacred festival for Jains. It is primarily observed to spread peace, concept of harmonious existence and the Jainism tenets as propounded by Mahavir

Hanuman Jayanti: 6 April 2023

Hanuman Jayanti, is a declared Hindu holiday which celebrates the birthday of ardent rama devotee Hanuman. Majority of Indian states celebrate this festival on the Chaitra Purnima. Worship of Lord Hanuman on this day confers all things good and eliminates obstacles from every corner. by worshiping Mahabali Hanuman according to law, all obstacles and obstacles end. Hanuman is otherwise fondly referred to as Sankat Mochan.

Good Friday: 7 April 2023

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is well known to all. This actually occurred on a Friday and hence this Friday came to be known as Black Friday, Great Friday, Great and Holy Friday as it happened on Friday which is the Friday before the Easter. Crucifixion of Jesus Christ is observed on the Friday before Easter. It has been called Good Friday because Resurrection of Jesus and his victory over death and sin and the celebration of Easter, actually are marked for celebration on this day.

Baisakhi Day: 14 April 2023

This festival comes on during the spring and the harvest time every year on April 13 or 14 and it is important for the Punjabi community. This year the Baisakhi date is on April 14. On the day of Vaisakhi or Baisakhi, Sikhs visit Gurudwaras, their places of worship which are decorated with flowers serial lights etc. Many Sikhs enjoy the special parades called Nagar Sankeertans, which actually include singing and dancing, extolling the virtues of their preceptor and about their religion. As spring ushers in, Baisakhi heralds its arrival. These festivities go on especially in the states of Punjab and Haryana.

Bihu Day: 14 April 2023

Bihu, the Assamese New Year is actually a two-day celebration. Also called Bohag Bihu, and Rongali Bihu it is a harbinger of spring season. The first day of the Bohag Bihu, also known as Goru Bihu is when bulls and cows are bathed with turmeric, fed with vegetables like gourds and brinjals and tied with new comfortable ropes. It is the first day that usually falls on 14 April. On 15 April, Manuh Bihu follows which is when they celebrate the New year day, officially. The main features of this festival are the feasts, music and dancing and children wear garlands of flowers and pass through the streets, greeting the new year.

Eid Ul Fitr: 21 April 2023

It is observed in the tenth month of the Islamic calendar, during the first three days of Shawwl. With the conclusion f Shawwl ends the Ramadan the fast is observed with a special meal which for most muslims is the first day in a month. Eid is at the end of Ramadan. The name "Eid al-Fitr" translates to "breaking of the fast". Like Ramadan, Eid too begins with the first sighting of the moon.

Akshay Tritiya: April 22 2023

Akshaya Tritiya is the most sacred month for both the Hindu and Jain communities. Also known as Akha Teej, it is day on which people perform various rituals to fulfill their needs. Akshaya Tritiya is auspicious for new ventures, marriages, and investments. It is also a day to remember those who have passed away from our lives. It is believed that Treta and Satya yuga began on Akshaya Tritiya.

Sita Navami: 29 April 2023

Sita Navami marks Sita's birth anniversary. It is celebrated one month after Ram Navami. Married women observe fast and pray for longlife of their husbands. Sita Navami is the day Sita was found underneath the soil while Janak Maharaj was digging the ground to ready it for yaga. Sita Navami is also known as Janaki Navami. Sita Navami is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Goddess Sita.
