Traditional Kerala meals is an important part of Vishu. This includes all dishes of sadya and the family members will enjoy the sadya sitting together, generally on the floor. The sadya will be served in plantain leaves with pradhaman at the end of the feast. The importance of Vishu festival sadya is that it contains equal part of dishes with salt, sweet, sour and bitter tastes.

The significance of Vishu festival related kaineettam is that it reflects the respect to elders and the bonding of the family members.
The elder person of the family will give money to the younger ones and it is believed that receiving Vishu kaineettam will bring you all wealth and prosperity for the whole coming year. Younger ones of the family will receive the kaineettam after showing their respect by touching the feet of the elders.
Vishu Kodi
New dress is an interesting part of this traditional festival. In the past, when farming was the main income of people, buying good and new dresses were limited to occasions like Onam or Vishu. Now the whole scenario changed, but still the tradition of buying new dress for Vishu exist with all its glory.

Crackers and fireworks are other interesting part of Vishu. In kerala, crackers are most moving during Vishu than Depavali. Each family will enjoy their night with fireworks and crackers. Another significance of Vishu festival and the crackers is that it will let the whole family have a fun family time together.
