According to the Hindu calendar, it is celebrated in the month of Baisakha (Last week of April or first week of May). This festival is celebrated on the third lunar day of the bright fortnight.

Once, on Akshaya Tritiya, Lord Krishna's poor friend, Sudama, visited his kingdom with hope of financial help with only a handful of beaten rice. Krishna relished it and blessed his friend with abundant wealth. This symbolises that if you gift little on this auspicious day, you'll receive more.


6. Another Mahabharata Story:

Akshaya Tritiya was the day when Yudhisthir received the ‘Akshaya Patra', which never got emptied during his lifetime in the forest. This means, giving gold or anything to someone only enriches your wealth.
