Buddha's Genuine Bone Relics In Mumbai Pagoda

The most striking feature of this Pagoda is that it would enshrine the genuine bone relics of none other than the Master who swept the aspiring hearts in his silence of Nirvana, Gautama Buddha.
Pagodas are tiered towers with multiple eaves that are built to host religious functions, mostly seen in the Far East lands like Mynamar, Thailand, Cambodia, China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam. However the pagodas of these days have said to be evolved from the ancient Indian Stupa, which is a tomb-like pillared structure meant to preserve sacred relics to be venerated. This pagoda which is 325 feet soaring structure with a diameter of 280 feet has taken almost 11 years to get completed. With the total cost amounting to 750 million rupees it is to draw an estimated number of at least a lakh tourists and spiritual seekers round the globe every year.
In the words of Kinshuk, the coordinator of the project is that the main objective of constructing this Pagoda is to be a seat of Vipasana Meditation, one of India's ancient meditation technique. The technique would mean to see things as they are in their true nature. He also said : "One who wants to get out of this misery of life and live a peaceful life, can always come here and get a superb atmosphere," The structure is built to house over 8000 Vipasana practitioners at the same time.
President Pratibha Patil, is to inaugurate it this grand spiritual structure on February 8, 2009. AGENCIES
