The Importance Of Prayer Rooms In The Hindu Way

Hinduism calls for a deeper significance for allotting a place exclusively for prayer at homes. The very presence of a prayer room at home reminds one who is engaged in a householder life that the Lord is the true owner and we are mere care takers. This attitude when contemplated upon often in our day to day life, gets one to get established in the Vedantic value of non attachment.
This in turn puts one effortlessly in the path of dispassion, thereby enabling one in dispatching duties with an unattached attitude, yet with utmost involvement. Involvement comes in the realization of the fact that all work done are truly His. Life then becomes a smooth, unruffled journey like that of a river that flows without any strain to merge with the ocean despite encountering undulations in its course.
A prayer surfacing from the very core of the heart is in itself potent when uttered in an undisturbed atmosphere. Prayer rooms serve this purpose. The mind becomes one pointed and one communes with God with utmost concentration. A prayer said with concentration unburdens the heart or enriches the devotion of the devotee.
If it seems difficult for our egocentric mind to accept God as the owner of our house, it should be considerably easier to at least accept Him as the most important guest in one's home. A prayer room at home further strengthens one's emotional bond with the Lord. He is all pervading and reminds one of the fact that he lives in one's homes as well.
A prayer room hence can be considered the door way to one's spiritual journey.
