Buddha Purnima 2023: RItuals And Remedies With A Human Touch
Buddha Purnima, is a day that decided the future of spirituality and life philosophy of the common man of those times. It was a time that called for a spiritual renaissance.

Buddha Purnima was also the day of birth/death/spiritual attainment of the Buddha or Siddhartha Gautama, the princely Saint who created a phenomenal cult and helped people evolve their mindset.
Here are some facts garnered about his cult and its ritualistic side. This was the day he was enlightened, and became Buddha, which when translated means "the spiritually aware or an enlightened man. "
Some remedies also have to be undertaken as this day coincides with the lunar eclipse which has some potentially harmful effects on the lives of the people.
Also otherwise, Buddha Purnima, as the name itself suggests, is a Purnima day that occurs on the Hindu Vaisakha month. This time it falls on a Friday 05 May 2023.
Buddha Purnima: Gautam Buddha was a scion of a royal family whose birthday is a declared national holiday which people celebrate by contemplating, introspecting and praying in the name of Buddha. Also this is the day to follow what Buddha preached at least to a reasonable level.
Experience says that the spiritual cleansing process that we embark on this day, also helps us to get rid of gnawing worries, purifies the soul and renders us greedless. Greed is the mother of all misery. People also seek forgiveness for their sins committed and start a new chapter in their lives.
As per shastras, it is good to fast and donate white coloured items like sugar, milk etc. This is bound to please Yamraj so that possibilities of untimely death can be avoided.
Religious Method & Rituals On Buddha Purnima:Vaishakh Poornima is just like any other Poornima day where the rituals and associated processes are not very different. Still, it would be better to follow certain rituals as this day also coincides with lunar eclipse.
Buddhist Rituals: Buddism is all about liberation. The first step of liberation is to liberate yourself from the fear and weaknesses that create barriers between you and the ultimate truth.
So on the worldly level, people follow this precept by freeing caged animals and birds during this time. Show your reverence to everything associated with Buddha by decorating the bodhi tree under which he meditated with flags, and light Diyas around it. Water its roots wishing that you wipe away unhappiness from the roots.
Meditate on him if you know how to meditate or learn to practice meditation from this day onwards. Recite and contemplate on his teachings and life. Do a regular puja to his idol with flowers and candles.
Let the colour you wear symbolise peace and purity which he stood for; think of the colour white.
Donate delicious food like Kheer and new clothes to the needy. Show compassion on animals and don't harm them. They are your fellow travellers in the journey of life who need kindness and care as much as you need, and not as the edible items on your menu. Maintain vegetarianism on this day.
Rituals To Follow: Wake up in the wee hours and take a holy cleansing bath by adding Ganga Jal to your bathing water. After observing fast, duly worship Lord Vishnu. Donating a kalash full of water and donate it in the name of Yamraj for favourable results.
Donate white sugar and white sesame seeds to 5 or 7 needy people so that your past sinful karmas are erased. Light a Diya of sesame seed Diya and offer tarpan to your ancestors with this. If you cannot do nirjal upavas, you can take a single meal for the day.
Two Favourable Yogas: Variyan and Parigh yoga are the two yogas forming on this Vaishakh Purnima. Of the two, ritualistic observances for Manglik dosh removal will fructify during the Variyan yoga. Rituals performed on Parigh yoga for eradicating harm from enemies, will succed.
Remedies On Vaishakh Or Buddha Purnima: Give away the prasad made of Rice and dry fruits Kheer, and you will see how peaceful and strong you feel and domestic harmony will prevail. Lighting Dhoop or Ghee Diya will eradicate negative energies around you. Donate items of daily need and white coloured clothes to the needy. You will feel peaceful.
