According to the Puranas, Lord Rama, the very embodiment of Brahman Himself had to have a bridge built over the sea to reach Lanka. But Hanuman's bridge to Lanka where He met Sita was the trustful uttering of Rama's name which flew Him past the ocean to His destination.
