Ingredients
-
- A cup of desiccated coconut. Keep around 2-3 tablespoons of coconut aside for coating.
- A cup of milk powder.
- Two-third cup of milk.
- One-third cup of cream.
- Half cup of natural sugars like coconut sugar/almond sugar/stevia.
- 1-2 tablespoons of ghee
- A teaspoon of cardamom powder.
- A few pistachios or almonds, chopped.
How to Prepare
-
- In a thick-bottomed pan, dry roast the desiccated coconut for around two minutes or until the rich aroma of coconut comes out.
- In a bowl, add milk and dry-roasted desiccated coconut.
- Mix well and keep the bowl aside for around 3-4 minutes to allow the coconut to absorb the milk.
- In the same thick-bottomed pan, add ghee and allow it to melt.
- Transfer the coconut and milk mixture and cook for a minute.
- Add cream, milk powder and cardamom powder and mix well.
- Allow to cook for around 4-5 minutes on a medium flame, stirring occasionally.
- Add sugar.
- Mix all the ingredients well and continue to stir until the mixture starts separating from the pan.
- Switch off the flame and transfer the mixture to a plate and allow it to cool slightly.
- Grease the palms with a bit of ghee or oil and prepare small-sized balls in the shape of pedas (flatten round balls from the top and a small hole in the centre).
- Roll over the desiccated coconut.
- Garnish with pistachios or almonds and enjoy.
