Besan Halwa Recipe: How To Make Besan Ka Halwa At Home
Besan ka halwa recipe or simply gram flour halwa is a traditional Punjabi sweet made especially during festive seasons. Besan halwa is a rich dessert enhanced with cashewnuts, raisins and an ample amount of desi ghee. It usually has the consistency between a custard and a thick well-settled halwa.
Besan Halwa can easily be made at home and does not require too much of an effort. The aroma while making this dish sure makes the gram flour halwa drool worthy. It is a simple and quick-to-make dessert and satisfies your out-of-the-blue sweet cravings. Here is a video and the step-by-step procedure with images on how to make the besan ka halwa at home.

Gram flour (besan) - 1 small bowl
- Ghee - ½ small bowl
- Sugar - 1 small bowl
- Water - 2½ small bowl
- Cardamom (elaichi) - 2-3 pods
- Broken Cashewnuts - 1 tbsp
- Raisins - for garnishing

1. Add besan to a priorly heated pan and stir continuously till it turns light brown.
- 2. Add ghee and sugar, and stir well.
- 3. Then, pour water and mix well.
- 4. Allow it to boil. Once the mixture starts to thicken, stir continuously to avoid lumps from being formed.
- 5. Take the pan off the stove and allow it to cool.
- 6. Meanwhile, take cardamom in a mortar and pound it with the pestle.
- 7. Sprinkle it on the halwa.
- 8. Garnish it with cashewnuts and raisins.
- 1. Add sugar before adding water to avoid the formation of lumps.
- 2. Make sure the water is always that of the quantity of the besan, ghee and sugar added up.
- 3. You can use jaggery instead of sugar to give it a twist in flavour.
- 4. It can be made with other flours as well.
