Aloo bhaja is a popular Bengali recipe that is prepared as a side dish in every Bengali household and is a part of their everyday meals. The aloo bhaja is simply potato fries, the main difference being, the aloo bhaja fried in mustard oil.
The Bengali-style aloo bhaja is very appetizing and is an all-time favourite among the children. Since it is fried in mustard oil, it has a strong pungent smell. Though salt and turmeric powder being the only spice, the aloo bhaja is very delicious and is always on high demand in every household.

Potatoes - 3
Salt - 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1 tbsp
Mustard oil - for frying

1. Peel the skin of the potatoes.
2. Cut them into thin circular pieces.
3. Further cut them into thin vertical strips.
4. Transfer into a bowl.
5. Add salt and turmeric powder.
6. Mix well and allow it to marinate for 10 minutes.
7. Add mustard oil in a pan for frying.
8. Once it is smoking hot, add the potato pieces.
9. Fry them for 1-2 minutes until they turn golden brown.
10. Remove from the oil and serve hot.
