What Is A High Risk Pregnancy?
If you have any of the below stated health risks during pregnancy then it can be termed as a 'high risk pregnancy'.
Conditions For A High Risk Pregnancy:
1. High Blood Pressure: There is a general increase in the blood pressure during pregnancy. Before the advancement of medical science a fast pulse rate along with a missed period indicated that you may have conceived. If you were already suffering from hypertension then your situation is more dangerous as compared gestational hypertension or developing high blood pressure after conceiving. Either ways you will be advised to rest more and put a course tranquilizers because in severe cases it can cause a detachment of the placenta or preeclampsia.
2. High Blood Sugar: If you are diabetic then it is not advisable for you to get pregnant in the first place without bringing your blood sugar level under control. However if you realise that you are suffering from gestational diabetes or high blood glucose levels during pregnancy then yours is a high risk pregnancy. A strict diet is mandatory in such cases because diabetic mothers give birth to obese babies with higher than normal levels of insulin.
4. History Of Miscarriages: If this is your attempt at conception after one or more miscarriages then you need to be doubly alert. If you have had multiple miscarriages then it only goes to show that your womb is weak or you have one of the above problems. It is better to take no stress at all and follow the doctors advice to the 'T' in such cases.
The conditions stated here for calling your pregnancy high risk are not the only risk factors but they are the most important ones.
