Baby Thumbsucking Is Good!

Baby Thumbsucking
Many mothers complain about their baby's thumbsucking habits without realising whether the habit is good or bad. Thumbsucking, according to baby experts is surprisingly “good", simply because the child enjoys doing it.

Why make the baby cry and deprive from something that it loves and enjoys doing. Many mommies are into a misconception that the habit makes the child get stubborn, alter the alignment of teeth and cause infection (nails of finger), which are not the proven disadvantages of finger sucking.

It will be surprising for mothers to know that the baby sucks its thumb from the maternal womb itself. The baby tries to get into a habit of eating by practicing feeding itself when hungry.

Thumbsucking allows baby to satisfy its psychological needs. Finger sucking calms the baby, relaxes mind and induces sleep. This helps mothers to make time for other things as well as create a peaceful environment at home.

Baby thumbsucking is said to regulate serotonin which pacifies the crying baby, helps divert mind and support easy baby development.

Another advantage of the baby habit is that it helps the baby get use to breast feeding and gain nutritional benefits from the mother. Builds a better contact between mother and baby.

If the baby is forced to stop thumbsucking then the baby may start chewing anything and everything that it finds and under its reach. This can cause more infection than the fingers.

All in all baby thumbsucking is good for psychological, paediatric and orthodontic development. For parents, who get irritated to see their baby thumbsuck, our suggestion would be to let it go until they are toddlers or otherwise there is a scientific theory that states that the baby will satisfy its needs come what may when it becomes an adult. Wouldn't the habit in the adult stage look more awful, think about it!!!
