Hours After Arrest, Shivam Mishra Gets Bail In Kanpur Lamborghini Car Crash Case
Hours after Kanpur police arrested Shivam Mishra, son of tobacco industrialist KK Mishra in connection with the high-profile Lamborghini crash on VIP Road earlier this week, the court has granted bail to the accused on a personal bond of ₹20,000.
Speaking to reporters, Shivam Mishra's lawyer, Naresh Chandra Tripathi, said, "The Court has refused the remand. He (Shivam Mishra) is being released now, on an undertaking of ₹20,000 and a personal bond of ₹20,000. The police were working under pressure from the government... Police had wrongly arrested him (Shivam Mishra)."

Earlier, Commissioner of Police Raghubir stated that that the 35-year-old would be produced in court shortly. "He has been taken into custody and will be presented before the court within an hour," Lal told PTI.
The accident occurred around 3 pm on Sunday, when a Lamborghini Revuelto - a luxury Italian sports car valued at over ₹10 crore - plowed into pedestrians and vehicles in the upscale Gwaltoli area. Among the injured was 18-year-old e-rickshaw driver Mohd Taufeeq, who later filed a complaint. However, defense counsel claimed Taufeeq was reluctant to pursue legal action.
The case took a dramatic twist on Wednesday when a man named Mohan stepped forward, claiming he was the designated driver and had been behind the wheel at the time of the crash. Police dismissed the claim, asserting that evidence gathered during the investigation clearly established Shivam Mishra as the driver responsible for the collision.
Speaking to the media, Shivam Mishra's lawyer said that Shivam Mishra has been wrongly arrested by the police and he was not driving the car."
Minister Anil Rajbhar says, "The government is working on Zero-tolerance and no one can stop it. Anyone who commits a crime will face strict action, and the government is determined to ensure this. We will always fulfill our commitment."
