Indian Scientists Develop Molecule To Fight Malaria
If you want to know about a new way to fight malaria then you need to read this article.
If you have fever, chills, headache, tiredness and nausea then you should ignore the symptoms. You might be suffering from malaria. Getting tested immediately is a must if you have these symptoms for more than 3-4 days.
Working towards this effect of treating and preventing malaria, a team of Indian researchers have developed a new way to fight malaria.
A team of researchers from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) has used a unique approach to overcome the problem of drug resistance. The team have deciphered a multiprotein complex that is involved in the invasion of the red blood cells (RBCs) by malaria parasites.

During the course of the study, researchers had identified peptide molecule that can effectively prevent the interaction between malaria parasites and receptors found on RBCs thereby preventing the parasites from invading the RBCs and causing the disease.
So how the system works?
First, the molecule targets a specific receptor called cyclophilin B found on the surface of RBCs that are used by the parasites to bind and invade them. Instead of targeting the parasite, the peptide molecule binds to cyclophilin B receptors, and due to this the parasites are unable to bind to the receptors and invade the cells.
After deciphering the mechanism of parasite entry, the team is now working to reduce the dosage to use the peptide as a drug. The researchers feel that it is easier to take the drug than the peptide to clinical testing by making necessary modifications.
Meanwhile, listed here are a few of the best ways to prevent malaria. Check it out.

1. Ginger:
Ginger is one of the best natural remedies that helps in boosting your immunity and helps in providing quick relief from infection. Ginger contains a compound called gingerol which is known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. All that you need to do take ginger pieces, add it in a pan along with water and then boil it for few minutes. Allow it to cool, stir it and then drink.

2. Cinnamon:
Cinnamon is not just a spice but it is loaded with plenty of medicinal benefits. Cinnamon contains cinnamaldehyde, which is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Consuming a bit of cinnamon as a supplement or adding it to your food helps to reduce the symptoms of malaria.

3. Tulsi ( Basil):
Tulsi, also known as basil is considered not just as a holy plant but it has plenty of medicinal benefits. Tulsi contains and important ingredient called eugenol which helps in fighting the bacterial infections effectively.
