Strange Facts About Walt Disney
Who hasn’t loved what Walt Disney has given out to the world? Could your childhood be considered complete had the Disney cartoons and their characters not been a part of your life? Imagine not having Mickey Mouse to reign your Sunday mornings, or Alladin to make you believe in magic. In fact, a lot of these cartoons are constantly being used as part of your daily lingo, as if these characters were truly humane.
Theme parks by Disney added to the beauty of creations by Walt Disney. If you had a chance to take a look at these theme parks, you would know that the magic of Disney has literally walked through them. It is quite instinctive to feel like you were a part of the cartoons that Disney has so romantically brought to you.

Of course criticism is always a part of great things. Lot of people has criticized Disney of having stereotyped genders, and casting a frame on the kids’ minds. But, then that’s what Disney is literally all about. Disney is all about creating imprints that follows you through your childhood. But, what do you know about Walt Disney as such? There are a lot of facts that remain untold, and here are some of those facts that have never been told to anyone.
Rejected from Army
This is an amazing fact about Walt Disney! When he was around 16 years old, a time when the First World War was going on, Walt Disney left school to enroll in the army. But, he was rejected as he was considered underage, and finally found a job as an ambulance driver with Red Cross. He even went to France for a year.
Mortimer was Mickey Mouse
As said earlier, Mickey Mouse has been synonymous with your childhood. The inventor had actually named Mickey Mouse, Mortimer Mouse. But, thanks to the intervention of his wife, the name Mickey was given to this character. Lillian Disney felt that the name Mickey would be more marketable! This is why after the first few shots, the name was changed to Mickey.
VoiceOver for Mickey Mouse
Not many know this, Disney had also tried giving his voice to Mickey Mouse. From the inception of this character in 1928 to 1947 Walt Disney had contributed as a voice over artist for Disney. It was finally given away to Jimmy MacDonald. In 1955 Disney again gave his voice to Mickey Mouse for the love of the character. This time the voice over was for the show The Mickey Mouse Club.
Feature Length Animated Movie
Snow White was the first feature film by Disney at a time when animated movies were not really in. The industry experts felt his attempt would fail. While making this feature film, the unknown fact was that Disney ran out of all the money he had. But, eventually when he rolled out the final cut of the movie, it went on to become a huge hit.
Contributed to Anti-Communist Movement
There was fear of communist infiltration in U.S. at the end of the second world war. Disney was one of those who believed in the Red Menace. He along with other leading industry executives formed an anti communist motion picture alliance for the preservation of American Ideals. He served as the vice president for MPA during this period.
