Getting late to work is perhaps the most common trait among every individual. And when that happens, excuses follow suit. Quite hilariously, it doesn't just stop there there. Redundancy is perhaps even more common and the excuses, well, they just don't stop and seemingly unique almost every time. While it is acceptable to be late once in a while, making it a habit can cause a dent on relationships with colleagues and the higher ups. Moreover, habitually going late does not look good in a disciplined work environment besides setting an undesirable precedent. This article focuses on just that - hilarious reasons people give for getting late to work. These excuses are, for want of a better phrase, thoroughly hilarious to say the least.
Many People have perfectly learned the art of making excuses when late to work. Here are the most common and hilarious excuses people give when they are late for work.

The Cops – I Got Pulled Over
Well, depending on how late one is, this is amongst the common excuses people give when they're late for work. Taking advantage of the miserable uncertainty in enforcement of justice, this excuse can well be a perfect savior. Adding on by saying "I had no money on me. Had to call a friend. It took him time to get there" is, for want of a better phrase, hilarious to say the least.

The Traffic
Perhaps the most common excuse. But you can't use it all the time can you. Traffic is a genuine reason. But getting late in traffic is definitely indicative of the fact that you left home late. It then goes back to the reason why you left home late. One thing points to another and eventually traffic doesn't not end up being a genuine reason, does it?

Helping In A Road Accident
The excuse can be genuine. At the same time, it may not be. People usually give this excuse when they're too late. There's no point digging too deep into it, for we'd probably not know how true it is or can be.

A Family Member is Ill
This is an excuse that most likely serves the purpose, especially if a person is late for 3 or four days in a row. It is convenient and can be hilarious considering the fact that on the first day of getting delayed, an excuse like traffic props up and on the second, it goes like " A family member is unwell. I had to get to the hospital before coming in to work. And the traffic by the time I start from the hospital, well, maddening".

Alarm Clock Stopped Functioning
Saying something like "My alarm clock stopped at 3:07 am today. Please Spare me of the frown and scorn. I freaked out looking at the time" will help, yes. Or did you extend it a little too much? Coming back to the question, saying that the alarm clock stopped functioning is another one of those common reasons people give when late to work.

My Car/Bike broke down:
Nobody can ascertain if this excuse is true or not. But, it definitely is amongst those hilarious excuses people give when they get late for work.

Forgetting Something
"I left "whatever" at home. I had to go and get it. It was important that I went back and got it" is another one of those common excuses late comer's give.
