Things Boss Should Not Tell An Employee
The relationship between a boss and employee can either be good or bad. But, seldom you can find something best in such relationships. Some day, either the employee or the boss will have problems with each other. In many companies, the boss feels he/she has the freedom to say anything (good or bad) to their employees. The boss as a head feels they have bought the employee by giving salary.
Having such a harsh and mean boss can damage the reputation of the company and also affect the work productivity. So, to have a healthy relationship between an employee and an employer, the head or boss should be careful on what he/she says. One wrong statement or using just one wrong word can put you in trouble. So, here are few things that a boss must never tell his/her employee.
Sorry, I can't do anything: Well a boss has the power and sources to do anything possible in the organisation. This might be a big expectation of your employee from you, but that is what you do for them! If a condition is not under your control, discuss and offer some ideas to your employee.
He/she is better than you: A boss should not tell this to his/her employee only if you do not want to kick your employee out of your organisation. Telling this sentence in front of him/her shows that you are biased and this can also discourage the hard working employee of your office.
I pay you, so do as I say: This is another thing that a boss must never tell in front of his employee. You are paying your employee so it doesn't mean he/she should become your slave. The age old practice and period is over. So, saying this is reminiscent!
Don't talk to me about it: You are the boss, so your employee would come and talk to you about the issues. As a boss, offer solutions and observe if the things are corrected or not.
Discuss work during coffee and lunch: A coffee or lunch break is the only time when an employee can relax and freshen up his/her mind. If you ask them to think about work and discuss every time, your employee will soon become a workacholic!
Don't be too close to your colleague: This is one of the most personal things and a boss must never say this to his/her employee. Communication is a vital ingredient that is required for a healthy work environment in an organisation. This is something in which you should not interfere. Avoid suggesting your employee as to who he/she should be friends with.
These are few things that a boss should never tell his or her employee. Do you agree?
