Rahul Dravid Launches Book At Jaipur Lit Fest
The Jaipur Literary Festival which kickstarted on January 24th, in the dry lands of Rajasthan, is one of the events which attracts many people across the country to participate and meet the wordsmiths across the Globe. At the same time, it was a treat for most of them as they got a chance to encounter with famous cricketer, 'The Wall', Rahul Dravid. The former cricket captain was at the Jaipur Literary Festival to launch the book 'Pataudi: Nawab of Cricket', on the late legendary cricketer, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi famously known as the 'Tiger Pataudi'. The event took place on Thursday, January 27, a day after Dravid received India's third highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan.
This 5 day Literary Festival which caters on all the section of the literature field, brought a huge enthralling crowd who gathered at the venue to get a glimpse of their favorite cricket star, who had graced the Literary Festival for the first time. The Caption of Rajasthan Royals, Rahul Dravid launched the book along with yesteryear actress Sharmila Tagore, wife of late Nawab Pataudi. Also in attendance were pace bowler Sreesanth and Wisden India Almanack editor Suresh Menon, who complied and edited the book on Pautaudi.

The book apparently tells a story of another hugely respected Indian cricketer, former captain Mansur Ali Khan "Tiger" Pataudi. The latter part of the event after the book launch was a talk show called 'Corner of a distant playing field' presented by Rajasthan Royals was based on the transformation of cricket as a sport, the session was moderated by renowned mediaperson Rajdeep Sardesai. Dravid, Ian Buruma, Dutch writer and academician, Suresh Menon were the speakers of the event. At the talk show it was also revealed that Rahul Dravid, who retired from cricket last year, is presently writing an autobiography.
This event not only saw the great legend from movies and cricket at the platform interacting with the audience but also witnessed various other sessions which kept the energy going in full swing on Republic day. Eminent personalities from across continents gathered on one platform to discuss the problems related to India from the safety of women to the politics. Famous panelists like Patrick French, Ashis Nandy, Tarun Tejpal, Richard Sorabji moderated by Urvashi Butalia discussed the utopias and dystopias, and the far vision to modernity.
The sessions also included women centric issues and the key highlights of women on the spiritual path of Buddhism. The session was conducted by Ranjini Obeyesekere, Kunzang Choden and Ani Choying with Swati Chopra, which left the crowd baffled.
