Scandals and royalty always go hand in hand. When you are followed 24x7 by prying eyes and camera lenses then it very hard to keep any secrets. And the media has a huge appetite for dirty secrets, especially when it come to royal families. The British royal family has been at the receiving end of many such scandals in the past.

The story actually starts with the colourful Henry VIII of the Tudor dynasty. History remembers Henry VIII for establishing a Church of England that was separate from the Catholic Church. But this British ruler was more famous for having 6 wives and beheading 3 of them. His turbulent love affair with the vivacious Lady Ann Boleyn was probably the beginning of royal scandals in England. It is also rumoured that Henry VIII also had an affair with Mary Boleyn who was his second queen's sister.

Then came the Virgin Queen Elizabeth who had many scandal surrounding her just because she did not get married. Presently, the Windsors are the ruling family in England. They too have their share of interesting scandals. These royal scandals unlike the historical ones, got a lot of media attention. But like all other controversy theories, they eventually died down.

The laws of the British royal family did not allow him to take such a queen; so he forfeited his throne for love!
