The story of our dear Barbie is special indeed, because not only was she dedicated to women she was made by one too. Ruth Handler, mother and co producer of the barbie doll used to watch her little girl Barbara, play all the time with handmade paper dolls often giving them adult roles and wondered if she could create one that would make children like her all over the world happy. Surprisingly on one of her trips to Europe, Ruth Handler saw the exact type of the doll she had in mind to make . The doll she that really caught the attention of Ruth Handler was Bild Lili which was a German product, Ruth Handler was inspired instantly and thus took it forward to her husband to create one. After much persuasion her husband the owner of Mantel company finally agreed and thus on March 9th , 1959 our dear Barbie doll birthday came to be known to all young girls. This doll was specially dedicated to Ruth's daughter, Babara whereby it was also named by her!
