Office To Dandiya Nights: One Quick-Change Outfit Formula For Navratri 2026
Planning your festive outfits can be exciting, but fitting Garba or Dandiya into a regular workday is a different challenge. With office hours, travel and evening celebrations to manage, there may be little time to go home and change. This Navratri 2026, a little planning over the weekend can help you put together versatile looks that work for both professional commitments and festive outings.
Anuj Mundhra, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Nandani Creation Limited (Jaipur Kurti), shares how a few simple styling changes can take an outfit from office-ready to Garba-ready.
1. Start With A Versatile Base Outfit
The easiest way to plan a quick-change look is to begin with an outfit that works in both settings. A plain kurta, kurta set or coordinated outfit in colours such as white, beige, black or jewel tones can be a good starting point. Cotton and cotton-silk fabrics are practical options for long days that extend into evenings of dancing.
A straight-cut kurta paired with tailored pants, for instance, can look professional during office hours and become more festive with a few additions later. Choosing a comfortable base also means you do not have to carry an entirely different outfit or spend too much time changing.
2. Let The Dupatta Do The Magic
A festive dupatta can change the look of a simple outfit almost instantly. Keep one with mirror embroidery, Bandhani prints or Gota Patti detailing ready in your bag and drape it over your workwear after office hours.
A contrasting colour or traditional pattern can bring the festive element into your look without requiring you to change your kurta or trousers. If you have several Navratri 2026 celebrations planned, you can also prepare two or three dupattas over the weekend and alternate them throughout the week.
3. Change Accessories Instead Of Your Outfit
Accessories are another easy way to transition from a workday look to an evening celebration. Oxidised jhumkas, a stack of bangles, a statement choker, a decorative belt or a bindi can add a festive touch without taking up much space in your bag.
Mundhra recommends using statement jewellery, a colourful dupatta, a bold lip and juttis to make a straight-cut kurta and tailored pants suitable for Garba. The idea is to refresh your existing look with a few festive additions rather than changing your entire outfit. Keeping these accessories together in a small pouch can make the transition quicker and easier.
4. Choose Footwear That Keeps You Moving
Garba and Dandiya involve plenty of movement, so comfortable footwear deserves as much attention as the rest of your outfit. Flat juttis, mojaris or cushioned sandals with secure straps are practical options for a night of dancing.
If your regular office shoes are not suitable for the dance floor, pack a separate pair. Lightweight clothing and comfortable footwear can help you move freely without constantly adjusting your outfit during the celebrations.
5. Prepare A Festive Kit Over The Weekend
A little preparation on Saturday or Sunday can save you time on busy Navratri weeknights. Put together a small bag with your festive dupatta, jewellery, alternative footwear, makeup essentials, safety pins and hairpins. You can keep it ready to carry to work on days when you have evening plans.
After work, use a suitable changing space to freshen up, add your accessories and make any necessary adjustments before heading to the venue. Planning these details in advance also makes it easier to decide which combinations you want to wear on different evenings.
Make Your Navratri 2026 Outfits Work Harder
You do not need a completely new outfit for every Navratri celebration to enjoy dressing up. A versatile kurta, a few colourful dupattas and carefully chosen accessories can create different looks without adding to your preparation time. Use the weekend to organise your festive essentials, then mix and match them through the week as your plans change. With a little forethought, the transition from office deadlines to the Garba floor can be simple, comfortable and just as festive as you want it to be.
