Searching For Friends, The Most In Facebook

A study was conducted to watch the users 'in action'. The participants were seated at computers and told to navigate for a determined period of time.
The two categories of search include social browsing and social searching. Social browsing is the navigation, with out any targeted goal in the mind. Social searching is the browsing through the networking site with an intend of finding specific information about a person, event or a group.
Social browsing is generally done to survey the general landscape, like the news feed or wall, without looking for specific information.
People tend to spend more time with social searching than social browsing, and they will enjoy that too. The social networking sites generally provide a series of transitions with the browsing process, which convert the users to something interesting or relevant and this makes the users enjoy the process.
Experts think that the way people use such sites also provide scope for studies.
