Rajkummar Rao Birthday Special: A Look At The ‘Stree’ Actor’s ₹44 Crore Juhu Residence In Mumbai
Rajkummar Rao is celebrating his 42nd birthday today, August 31, 2026, and the actor has plenty to look forward to beyond his milestone year. From his early breakthrough in 'Shahid' and 'Newton' to commercial successes such as the 'Stree' universe and 'Srikanth', Rao has built a career around constantly changing his on-screen image. His upcoming slate includes the courtroom drama 'Prahaar', in which he plays special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, as well as 'Raftaar', while his much-anticipated 'Dada' will see him portray former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly.
But away from the sets and the characters, Rajkummar Rao and his wife, actor Patralekhaa, have created a home in Mumbai that reflects a quieter, more personal side of the star. On his birthday, here's a look inside their Juhu residence, from its artistic interiors and peaceful balcony to the story behind the actor's journey from sleeping on the floor in Mumbai to owning a multi-level home.
Rajkummar Rao And Patralekhaa's Juhu Home
Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa own a luxurious three-storey residence in Mumbai's Juhu-Vile Parle Development Scheme (JVPD). The couple purchased the property in 2022 from actor Janhvi Kapoor for a reported ₹44 crore. The residence spans approximately 3,456 sq ft and occupies the 14th, 15th and 16th floors of the building.
The property has also attracted attention because of its previous Bollywood connection. Janhvi Kapoor reportedly purchased it in 2020 before selling it to the couple two years later.
A Home With An Artistic And Personal Touch
Despite its expensive price tag, the home isn't designed purely to showcase luxury. Its interiors combine contemporary elements with personal touches, artwork, sculptures, wooden furniture and warm details.
One of the home's standout architectural features is its spiral staircase, which connects its different levels and adds an unusual visual element to the residence.
The interiors also feature neutral shades, creating a relatively understated backdrop for the couple's collection of artwork and decorative pieces.
The Buddha-Themed Balcony
One of the most distinctive spaces in Rajkummar Rao's home is the balcony.
The space features greenery, seating and a Buddha statue, giving it a peaceful character. The Buddha statue has a personal connection for Rajkummar, who has spoken about being drawn to it after seeing it in Thailand.
Rather than being just another luxury-home feature, the balcony reflects the actor's preference for having a calm, comfortable space within his Mumbai residence.
A Cosy Reading Corner And Home Temple
The home also includes a reading corner, with a comfortable seating arrangement positioned near a window.
Another meaningful space is the couple's home temple. Reports have highlighted how Rajkummar and Patralekhaa celebrate festivals at home, including decorating their temple during Ganesh Chaturthi.
These details give the expansive residence a more lived-in feel rather than making it look like a conventional celebrity showpiece.
From Sleeping On The Floor To A Juhu Triplex
Perhaps the most interesting part of Rajkummar Rao's home story is the contrast between his early Mumbai years and his life today.
The actor has previously recalled that when he first moved to Mumbai, he shared a house with two friends and slept on the floor. That period came before he established himself in the film industry. He eventually landed his debut in 'Love Sex Aur Dhokha', followed by acclaimed performances in films including 'Shahid', 'Kai Po Che!', 'CityLights', 'Aligarh' and 'Trapped'.
Rajkummar Rao's 42nd Birthday That Reflects His Journey
At 42, Rajkummar Rao's Juhu residence represents more than celebrity luxury. It also offers a glimpse into a journey that began with uncertainty, shared accommodation and even sleeping on the floor before recognition arrived.
His career has been defined by an unusual willingness to move between characters and genres. On his 42nd birthday, his Juhu home offers another interesting chapter in that journey - a personal space built after years of establishing himself among Hindi cinema's most recognisable performers.
