Toddlers On Ramp - A Mishap Or A Gain

Children walking on the ramp is not a new aspect in the world of fashion, but a toddler braving out such a task is surely a new one. 2008 posed the limelight on kids flaunting collections on the ramp. Darsheel, the youngest star of Bollywood, stole the show at the Lakme Fashion Week, as he walked the ramp for designer Neeta Lulla on the second day of LFW. While Neeta Lulla was praised for her vibrant colours and theme of fame (immortal love) with the star child, Abhishek took a down lane of shame.
Abhishek's creations were mind-boggling. The collection he showcased was rich, decorative, very ornate and glitzy with prints. Digital large prints, hand embroidery depicting women in all their glory, and artistic motifs, gave the creations a fusion look. His creations included jackets, boleros, sherwanis, fluid pants, dresses, dungarees to body hugging knit blouses. Even men's wear was colourful as women's.
When his attempt was applauded for a great success the child came tumbling down to fish him in the net of mishaps. The kid didn't show any signs of being hurt, however many critics and celebrities who witnessed the show found the whole idea of a kid walking on the ramp just not fine. As the show was not focusing on any kids garment nor was the theme based around kids.
In an interview after the event, when he was asked th reason behind the act he promptly states"A child is the purest form of beauty. Instead of making a celeb child fake the walk, I thought it would be natural to let my own son represent the theme." Alas, for his fate the episode made Dutta's theme look more like child abuse. Whatever may be the story the mishap did make the designer be on the unfamed limelight for this year in the arena of fashion world for a 'kiddish' mistake.
