A Town Where No Politics, Corruption Or Religion Is Followed
Have you ever wondered of living in a place where there is no politics, religious feuds or even fights for money? Yeah, this sounds like a dream, but there is a place like this that truly exists and it exists in our very own country, India!

Founder Of This Town...
It was founded in 1968 by Mirra Alfassa who is also known as "the Mother". The town is designed by architect Roger Anger.

Mission Of The Town...
Auroville is meant to be a universal town that has been created for men and women of all countries to live in peace and progressive harmony. It is for the people to be above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities.

The Matrimandir
Visits to the Matrimandir are free of cost. This is a place for individual silent concentration. Visitors often find peace here, as it is a place that should be visited in an appropriate physical and mental state.

Total Area
The total planned area of this town, plus its surrounding Green Belt, is approximately around 3930 acres (1620 hectares or approx 20 sq. km), in which the city area occupies approximately 1150 acres and the Green Belt occupies approximately 2780 acres.

Alcohol
The consumption of alcohol is also strongly discouraged in Auroville town, as people believe in harmony and peace, and do not wish to create any drunken ruckus. It cannot be purchased anywhere in the township as well.
