Debashri Samanta's Hooked Fish Prints At LFW 2014
Day 3 of LFW 2014 began with quiet elegance from a very novel collection. Debashri Samanta's collection at LFW 2014 reflected her Bong origins. Bengalis cannot hide their love for fish even when it comes to their fashion mantra. Designer Debashri Samanta is known for her fascination for cotton as a fabric for designing her outfits. And she sticks to her favourite even this time around.
The most striking feature of this collection at LFW 2014 is the fish prints. The colour palate includes navy blue, ink blue, white and steel grey. Almost all the designs have been created from these four major colours which in itself is an achievement. This is one of the most innovative collections we have seen so far at Lakme Fashion Week 2014 Winter Festive.
Many celebrities are picking Debashri Samanta's designs these days. Recently, we had seen Alia Bhatt in a maxi gown from this designer's label. The kaftans, wrap around skirts and drapes in this collection will surely find favour with the Bollywood stars. The use of cotton makes this collection for LFW 2014 very earthy and fresh.
The showstopper outfit was a stunner. She wore a fish printed saree with a full sleeved grey blouse with a criss-cross back. We also liked a navy blue strapless gown that was teamed up with a white shrug. Apart from this, most of the designs in the collection were fusion and perfect for day wear in the coming winters.

Knotted Pants n Tied Up Crop Top
As the theme of the collection is 'Hooked' referring to the fishing villages of Vietnam, the knotted pants and top are apt renditions of fishermen's clothing.

Ruffle Top with Fish Print Skirt
The fish prints on cotton and silk are the most ardent symbols of this collection. The ruffle top looks smart with the black midi skirt.

White Crochet
The holes in the white crochet shrug is a striking feature of this outfit.

White Polo Neck Shrug
This strapless blue gown had fish details on it. The white polo neck shrug adds touches of winter to this outfit.

Navy Blue Tussar Gown
This side slit tussar silk dress has bold fish prints. We also like the full-length white jacket that goes rather well with it.

Bandhgala Kurta
This deep navy blue kurta is marked by white fish prints and the style of the kurta is like bandhgala sherwani. The lower hemline of the kurta has fringes.

Blue Short Dress With Black Cape
This short overall dress has fish print patterns on it. It has become suitable for winter by adding a black cape to it.

Assymetrical Skirt
This blue skirt had an asymmetrical hemline. The crop top had fish net details on it.

Fringe Dress With Printed Jacket
This model is wearing a long dress with fringes at the end. It has been paired with a printed jacket.

Grey n Black Saree
This silk saree was draped over a grey silk blouse that had a criss-cross back. The saree has black fish prints on it.
