LFW 2013: Stridhan From Gaurang Shah
Day 4 of LFW 2013 was a tribute to Indian textiles. Various types of traditional Indian textiles were displayed on the ramp of Lakme Fashion Week 2013 on Day 4. These garments included traditional cottons in bright Indian colours. Gaurang Shah is one of the Indian designers who works with Indian weavers and fabrics. He is usually famous for his jamdani works.
But at LFW 2013, he has ditched his favourite jamdani weaves and worked with Patan Patola from the state of Gujarat. His collection is titled 'Stridhan' which basically means a woman's personal bounty. In India, 'Stridhan' is traditionally interpreted as gold jewellery. But here, 'beauty' and 'style' have been presented by Gaurang Shah as the essence of a woman's real 'Stridhan'.
Kirron Kher was the showstopper for Gaurang Shah's LFW 2013 collection. The vivacious Kirron Kher walked down the ramp wearing a Patan Patotal drape in Gaurang Shah's signature style. In Gaurang's own words, "Amalgamating this exotic fabric with my signature fabric- Khadi, I wanted to give a whole new dimension to the patolu. Accentuated with parsi embroidery, kanjeevaram borders, gota's and fabric textures."
Here are some of the most intriguing designs from the Stridhan collection at LFW 2013.

Green Patola Drape
This white anarkali dress is totally set off by the dark green drape with white patola patterns on it.

Yellow Lehenga
The yellow coloured lehenga has intricate patan patola work on it. The multi-coloured patterns make it look really bright.

Blue n Red Drape
This lehenga looks stunning due to the blue and red drape that copies the traditional Gujarati style.

Black Sharara
We rarely get to see patolas in the black colour. This rich black sharara top and drape looks stunning with the sharara.

Red Patola Drape
The entire look of this white and yellow shaded anarkali is changed by using this vibrant red patola drape.

Patola Saree
This green patola saree has traces of yellow and pink on it. It has been draped in the typical Gujarati style.

Kirron Kher
Showstopper Kirron Kher wore a white and green patola saree. Her blouse also had intricate patterns.

Gujarati Jewellery
Kirron Kher also wore some really chunky silver jewellery that is usually worn by Gujarati tribal women.

Showstopper
Designer Gaurang Shah himself draped a green patola dhoti with white kurta as he walked down the ramp with Kirron Kher.
