LFW 2013: Stridhan From Gaurang Shah

Day 4 of LFW 2013 was a tribute to Indian textiles. Various types of traditional Indian textiles were displayed on the ramp of Lakme Fashion Week 2013 on Day 4. These garments included traditional cottons in bright Indian colours. Gaurang Shah is one of the Indian designers who works with Indian weavers and fabrics. He is usually famous for his jamdani works.

But at LFW 2013, he has ditched his favourite jamdani weaves and worked with Patan Patola from the state of Gujarat. His collection is titled 'Stridhan' which basically means a woman's personal bounty. In India, 'Stridhan' is traditionally interpreted as gold jewellery. But here, 'beauty' and 'style' have been presented by Gaurang Shah as the essence of a woman's real 'Stridhan'.

Kirron Kher was the showstopper for Gaurang Shah's LFW 2013 collection. The vivacious Kirron Kher walked down the ramp wearing a Patan Patotal drape in Gaurang Shah's signature style. In Gaurang's own words, "Amalgamating this exotic fabric with my signature fabric- Khadi, I wanted to give a whole new dimension to the patolu. Accentuated with parsi embroidery, kanjeevaram borders, gota's and fabric textures."

Here are some of the most intriguing designs from the Stridhan collection at LFW 2013.
