5 Things I Love & Hate About Bangalore City

The experience of living and breathing in a city is often lost under the noise of statistics. This account of Bangalore as a city tries to highlight a very personal experience of being a Bangalorean.
5 Things I Love About Bangalore City:
1. Green City: It may not be the 'Garden city' of India anymore because people hardly pay any attention to gardens here. But it is still one of the greenest cities in this country. For someone who comes from west, it is a green haven.
2. Slum-Less City: The first thing that strikes you about this place is that it has few slums. Not that, everybody in Bangalore comes under the rich category, but the migrant population is low and most people have permanent houses. Sanitation is therefore, much better organized.
3. Street Food: Food in Bangalore is a delight. This is especially true for street food that has an amazing variety. Whether it is south Indian fast food or chicken pepper fry or just chaats, the foodies will be satisfied.
4. City Of Professionals: If you are a professional, no mater which field you come from, you can find lots of like minded souls in this city. People are surprisingly professional in their attitude and work culture is good.
5. City Of Bungalows: I have never seen another Indian city with so many independent houses. Not all of them may be massive bungalows. But buying plots and constructing your own house is an inspiring cultural element here.
5 Things I Hate About Bangalore City:
1. Traffic Jams: Traffic is the worst possible disease ailing this city. Like most of the best cities in India, Bangalore roads too, have suffered from the booming economy. Too many cars that the narrow roads cannot sustain.
2. Pollution: This is an after effect of the monstrous traffic. Pollen concentration in the air is highest in Bangalore making it unlivable for people with allergies.
3. Night Life: Supposedly, Bangalore is the pub capital of India. But the pubs in Bangalore are really sad. Night life is limited as all pubs and night clubs shut down before mid night. For those who come from metros like Delhi and Mumbai, this is a big down side.
4. Public Transport: Bangalore city is yet to have an equivalent of the Metro Rail in Delhi or the local trains in Mumbai. Public transport is mostly via auto-rickshaws and they are a pain.
5. IT City: Every third person in this city seems to be an IT professional. It is the IT hub of India but it gets monotonous beyond a point.
