Kiran Bedi: A Brave Indian Woman!

Kiran Bedi was the first Indian woman to join the Indian Police Service and served the nation from the year 1972-2007. This woman of substance is also an active social activist who fights against anti-social practices.
Career
One of the most famous Indian women, Kiran Bedi started her career as a political science lecturer in Khalsa College for women, Amritsar and then in an urge to become an outstanding woman of substance, she successfully cleared IPS and joined the service in 1972. This famous Indian woman held the post of Director General at the Bureau of Police Research and Development before her retirement from the IPS in December 2007.
The striking woman, Kiran Bedi, founded two NGOs named Navjyoti in 1987 for welfare and preventive policing and the India Vision Foundation in 1994 for prison reformation, drug abuse prevention and child welfare. She also launched a website to help people with their complaints which are not accepted by the police. This brave woman also appeared as a Judge on a TV show named “Aap Ki Kachehri" to give legal advice and provide monetary help to people.
This brave and striking woman has also achieved in sports with her active participation in Lawn Tennis, a hobby inherited from her father.
Education
One of the famous Indian women, Kiran Bedi was born on June 9, 1949 at Amritsar in Punjab and did her schooling from the Sacred Heart Convent School in Amritsar. She completed her graduation in the English language from the Government College for Women in Amritsar and received her Masters degree in Political Science from Punjab University. She continued her studies even after joining the Indian Police Force. In the year 1988, she obtained a degree in Law (LLB) from Delhi University. In 1993, the Department of Social Sciences, IIT New Delhi, awarded this woman of substance with a Ph.D. Degree and her topic of research was Drug Abuse and Domestic Violence.
Personal Life
Kiran Bedi, one of the most famous and desirable Indian women is the second of the four daughters of Prakash and Prem Peshawaria. Ths woman of substance tied the knot with Brij Bedi in 1972, a textile machine manufacturer whom she met at the Amritsar tennis courts. Both performed simple quasi-religious marriage ceremony at a Lord Shive temple. Kiran Bedi is a mother of four kids, Shashi, an artist settled in Canada, Reeta, a clinical psychologist and writer, Anu, a lawyer and Saina, a community service activist.
