Celebrity Chef Ajay Chopra Launches Plaka, From Potlam Biryani To Taco-Bab, Get Ready To Taste Heaven On Plate
Chef Ajay Chopra, the renowned Indian chef, consultant, and media personality became a household name when he co judged Masterchef India's maiden seasons. From hosting MasterChef India to successfully launching restaurants around the globe, Chef Ajay Chopra has made a lasting impact on the hospitality industry.
I met the Chef at the opening of Plaka, a delightful amalgamation of his global travels and culinary experiences. Nestled in the vibrant swanky Mall of Asia in Bangalore, it marks the Chef's maiden venture into South India. The Chef mentioned how thrilled he is to infuse 25 years of his culinary journey into this casual dining haven meant for culinary enthusiasts in the city.

"At Plaka, we believe food transcends borders, seamlessly blending diverse cultures and traditions," remarked Chef Ajay Chopra. And one can easily observe this while going through the various courses of culinary treats from all over the world.
Plaka boasts an enticing array of regional delights such as Potlam Biryani and Egg Kalaki, alongside cross-cultural creations like Taco-Bab - a fusion of Tacos and Indian Kebabs. This particular 'Taco' is the best fusion dish I've seen recently. There were other Noteworthy favourites too, including the Mezzo Mezzo grazing board, featuring Mediterranean delights. While you might find all this indulging enough I would also recommend you to sample the Chur Chur Naan Board, a complete meal comprising Dal Makhni, Butter Chicken, and Chole, paired with Delhi's iconic Chur Chur Naan, served with salad and papad. The authentic north Indian flavours that were missing in namma uru so far.

The Mocktails menu deserves special mention. Chef told us how he does not like creating drinks with the mixers and the ready made concentrates that are the usual ingredients everywhere. So he has impressed upon creating drinks from scratch to keep natural flavours intact. 'The Yellow Gold' and the 'Jamun Fizz' were simply outstanding amongst the selection. These soon to be 'cocktails' are apparently Bangalore inspired and will definitely leave you wanting for more.
Overall, I found Plaka quite fresh and innovative enough as compared to many other places that have opened up recently. It's meant for people seeking culinary adventures in the confines of the city and this place is sure to make it's mark in the food landscape of our humble city.
