The American singer and song writer , Katy Perry learned to speak in 'tongues' in her growing years, and she says that it is still very "normal" to converse in the controversial holy language.

The 25 year old singer, grew up in a strict religious household with her pastor parents, who both preached in their local church in California. Her religious parents take part in glossolalia sessions-he muttering of speech-like syllables as a form of religious expression.

The singer says , “(My household was) strict and nutty... Speaking in tongues is as normal to me as ''Pass the salt''. The singer was adamant the practice was just another everyday occurrence in her nutty household. She stated that, “A lot of religions use meditation or chanting. It''s a secret, direct prayer language to God. My dad speaks in tongues and my mom interprets it. That''s their gift."
