Beatles' drum auctioned for £541,250
{image- www.boldsky.com}The drum featured on the Beatles' album Sgt Pepper" has sold for a whopping 541,250 pounds at an auction at Christie"s in London.
The hand-painted bass drum skin was the same on that was used for the cover of The Beatles' classic Sergeant Pepper album in 1967. It was bought by a anonymous bidder for a price three times the estimate.
It features prominently on the cover of the LP, placed in the middle with the Fab Four surrounding it dressed in military uniforms and a host of other celebrities, reports The Sun.
The cover of the famous album was designed by Sir Peter Blake. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was the eighth studio album by the British group, and was recorded over a 129-day period beginning on 6 December 1966.
Released on 1 June 1967 in the UK, the album has often been described as The Beatles' magnum opus, and is considered to be one of the most influential albums of all time by critics and publications alike.
A testimony to this is the fact that it was ranked the greatest album of all time by Rolling Stone magazine in 2003.
