Fake Christmas Tree Hot This season

With Christmas just around the corner, Christmas trees are selling like hot cakes this winters and not just the real ones, but fakes too.

People who dismissed fake Christmas trees as 'naff' will now have to eat up their own words, for a department store in London is now selling "the most realistic fake tree ever" and making quite a fortune out of it. Design experts have claimed that fake Christmas trees, for decades considered the height of naffness, have now come of age.

John Lewis, one of the country's biggest sellers of faux trees, many people will be fooled by the 6-foot, Woodland Tree, sold at his store. The tree is complete with spindly branches, needles on the trunk, and little pinecones on the branches. The department store group has claimed the plastic and resin tree is the "most realistic ever" and one that no family would be ashamed to have in their sitting room.

Isobel McKenzie-Price, editorial director at Ideal Home magazine, said: "Faux trees have come a very long way over the past few years. The Woodland Tree is a wonderful example. Slim and elegant, the Woodland tree's deliberately sparse appearance looks really natural as well as enabling you to show your decorations and baubles to perfection." On sale for just a few weeks, the 75 pounds plant has outsold all its other trees and is all set to become the store's best-selling Christmas tree of all time.

"I think many people will be fooled. It is genuinely economic, considering how many years you will get out of it. And best of all ' no needles,' The telegraph quoted Patrick Lewis, retail director at the company, as saying. And the trees have impressed local people and design experts alike.
