Ash-Abhishek to perform 'pujan'

Varanasi, Jan 21 (UNI) Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai will join fiance Abhishek and would be in-laws Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan to offer special prayers at the famous Goddess Vindyavasini shrine in the neighbouring Mirzapur district on January 27 next.

The occasion will mark the 51st birthday of Bachchan family's close friend and senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Amar Singh, who alongwith family will also offer prayers with the newsmaking filmy clan at Vindhyachal's Vindhyavasini temple, Amar Singh Fans Association (ASFA) claimed here today.

The information about Ash-Abhishek offering prayers at the famous shrine has also fuelled speculations among the priests at the temple about the marriage of the two Bollywood heart-throbs being solemnised at the Goddess temple.

This will be the first time since January 14 Ash-Abhishek 'Roka' (engagement) ceremony that the Bollywood beauty will offer prayers at a temple alongwith her fiance and would be in-laws.

Earlier, on November 27 last, she alongwith Abhishek and the entire Bachchan clan had offered early morning prayers at the world famous Kashi Vishwanath and Sankatmochan temples in Varanasi fuelling speculations about Ash-Abhishek marriage on cards.

The Bachchan clan had performed the 'Abhishek Pujan' besides having the 'darshan' of the early morning 'Managla Arti' at the Kashi Vishwanath temple during that visit.

ASFA sources further confided the SP leader and Uttar Pradesh Development Corporation chairman will be accompanied besides Ash and the Bachchans, by his wife Pankaja Kumari Singh and twin daughters Drishti and Disha.

The 14-high profile guest list also includes cine actor-turned-SP MP from Rampur Jaya Prada, industrialist Anil Ambani's better half Tina Ambani and Bollywood beauty actor Zinta. They are likely to be joined by UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav at the Vindhyavasini temple during the special 'Bhagwati pujan', Mirzapur district administration sources confided.

The special prayers will be followed by the marriage of 51 poor girls, whose 'Kanyadan' will be performed by Amar Singh and his wife Pankaja, sources added.

The high profile visitors will arrive at the Varanasi Airport by a special flight at 1230 hrs on January 27 and will then fly by four helicopters to the helipad near the Goddess Asthabhooja temple.

Last year, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan had on the 50th birthday of Mr Singh joined his politician friend to offer prayers at the Akshardham temple on the banks of Yamuna river in the national capital.
