Sushmita Sen's imported luxury car, Land Cruiser was seized by the The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and she was asked to shell out Rs. 20 lakh as customs duty.

In March last year, the Cruiser was imported, stating its date of manufacture, as December 1998 while the actual date of manufacture was 2003. As a result of this misrepresentation, the custom duty levied was Rs 9 Lakh. The market value of the vehicle is Rs 56 lakhs and thus a duty of 20 lakhs.

Sources said "Also the vehicle was brought into the country under the transfer of residence (TR) scheme that mandates that the vehicle may not be sold before two years of personal use by the importer."
