Dancing his way into the record books: M Sridharan
Salem, Tamil Nadu Dec 25 (UNI) It was a unique Christmas Eve for the people of this town as they got to watch 32-year-old M Sridharan perform the marathon feat of dancing continuously for 109 hours, an achievement he hopes will get him an entry into the Guinness Book of Records.
Hailing from V Jattialli village in Dharmapuri District, Sridharan's feet started moving in Bharatanatyam steps to the rhythm of music on December 20, and came to a stop only last evening.
A total of 1468 songs were rendered during his performance.
When he completed his recital, he received congratulations from State Agriculture Minister Veerapandi S Arumugam.
A 50-member team watched the performance without a break.
A dance teacher, Sridharan also plays the flute and mridangam.
He told reporters that the record was now held by Arulanandam Suresh of Australia, who performed Bharathanatyam for 100 hours at a stretch.
