National Tansen Award 2006-07
Bhopal, Nov 28 (UNI) Renowned classical singer Sulochana Brihaspati will be conferred National Tansen Award for 2006-07 in Gwalior on December 1.
The award, instituted by the Madhya Pradesh Culture Department for significant contribution in Hindustani music, carries Rs one lakh and a citation, according to official information.
Born in Allahabad in 1937, Delhi based Sulochana Brihaspati learnt classical music under the guidance of Pandit Bholanath Bhatt and Ustad Mushtaq Hussein Khan.
A singer of Rampur Sahvasan gharana, Sulochana has enthralled audience with her exquisite performances across the country.
She has won several awards, including gold medal from the President, Akashwani Marfi Metro award and other honours. The singer has also written several books on music.
