Medha Patkar To Inaugurate "Muktadhara II"
Kolkata, Oct 14 (UNI) Noted social activist Medha Patkar will inaugurate the 13-day 'Muktadhara II', the second international theatre festivals for the oppressed, beginning here on October 17 with the participation of more than 15 theatre groups from different countries.
Being organised under the banner of 'Jana Sanskriti', the country's largest theatre group having presence in 12 states, the festivals would show 25 plays highlighting major socio-economic problems of the oppressed.
Apart from this, a series of international seminars, workshops and debates on different aspects of theatre would be held during the event, Mr Sanjoy Ghosal, the brains behind the whole event, told newspersons last evening.
A large number of noted theatre personalities would also take part in these event.
He said about 80 theatre personalities from France, Germany, the UK, the US, Brazil, Sweden, Austria, Palestine, Pakistan and Australia, among several other countries, besides artistes from West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan would participate in the festivals.
Mr Ghosal said though burning social issues were unusually being projected in their plays, spectators have been asked to participate in large numbers to join the nationwide movement in favour of the oppressed.
