Puducherry, Nov 10 (UNI) To spread awareness about the ill-effects of alcoholic beverages, need for compulsory education and eradication of violence, a local boy today undertook a novel feat by running backwards for 36 Kms.

Dhana Thirukkumaran(10) of T V Nagar, studying in sixth standard, ran backwards covering the Puducherry town.

The feat was inaugurated by Puducherry Municipal Deputy Chairman A John Kumar.

He halted at prime junctions to address the people and deliberate on the importance of undertaking such a feat.

He also performed ''Silambattam'', a traditional martial art of Tamil Nadu.
