Pugs are very sensitive and can suffer from health problems like obesity, overheating and pharyngeal reflex to name a few. So, a proper pet care can keep the pug's health problems away and increase its life span. Lets check out tips to keep the pug healthy and free from problems.

Tips to keep the pug healthy-

Protection from parasites: Apart from fleas and ticks, worms such as hookworms and roundworms are also unhealthy parasites. Consult your vet and use advised flea and tick repellent to kill parasites. To reduce the chance of worms clean up your pugs" poop immediately after he leaves it there as hookworms can be found in the stool, and their eggs can lay in the grass for a year. Spray bug repellent on your pet when outside also spray mosquito repellent only on yourself and stay close to your pug at night to protect it from mosquitoes.

Slim pugs: Pugs are not supposed to be fat. Due to their muscular and round features pug look more fat. Loose some extra weight of your pug as they are prone to obesity. Heavy weight can lead to knee or leg pain, eye and lung disfunctioning.

Exercise: A daily walk with pug is a must to maintain good health and avoid problems. Don't take the pug out in sun and don't overdo exercise. When your pug starts breathing heavily or resists then stop. Little exercise like a 10-15 minutes walk is enough for pugs to keep them away from health problems.

Overheating among pugs: Always check their temperature as they are easily affected by heating. Keep them in cool place during a hot temperature. It also keeps them away from dehydration. If the pug suffers from overheating, place a cold compress on its belly till it cools down.

Ears and skin infections: Suffering from ear infections is very common health problem among pugs. They have narrow ear canals with wrinkles which makes the bacteria and germs settle easily. Always clean your pug especially the face and ears. Use soft tissue or a cotton ball to wipe the ears and keep them clean and dry. If the pug shakes its head or scratches his ears a lot then pay extra attention as it can be symptoms of ear infection. Consult your vet and provide ear drops accordingly.
