Heat it up - Winters are very cold and to keep your home warm and cozy, gear it up with a heater or a fireplace. For heaters stack up enough gas or use electrically driven heaters. For a fireplace, store enough fire wood that would be required. A simple heating method that can be used is to reverse the direction of the ceiling fan, this will make the home warm.

Curtain it up - Use thick curtains on every window and door of the house. This would block the cold breeze from entering the home. Home for winter must be decorated with thick and fancy window and door curtains. Also, thick mats and sofa cushions can also be used for winter preparations. Use bright colors to make it up for the dull atmosphere during winters.

Furniture - Furniture is an important part of a home. To prepare home for winter, furniture arrangement and maintenance is of great importance. Make the seating arrangement away from open spaces and close to the heater or fire place. Also, fix all the windows tightly to make them air tight. This makes the home for winter cozy. Use huge furniture pieces, they are said to keep the home warm. Also, use such material that is warm.

Fix the leaks - If any leaks in the pipes or bathroom accessories, make it a point to fix them before the winter sets in. When cold water leaks through these pipes inside the house, it increases the cold in the house. The home should be kept warm in winters, hence, such leaks should be avoided as much as possible.

Insulate if necessary - If the winters are very severe in your areas, then insulators in attics and other places in the house can also be used. Insulators help to retain the warmth in the home. Try using eco friendly and formal dehyde free insulators. Also protect the pipes and keep them from freezing. This can be done by using hot water circulation through the pipes atleast once in a day.

These were a few tips to keep home for winter warm and comfortable to use and stay. You can also use a lot of cushions and warm mattresses, check all the electrical appliances and clean the roof gutters.

Winters can be much more comfortable if your home is prepared in advance. The feeling of sitting in an arm chair near the fire place, wrapped up in a blanket with a cup of coffee is what makes winters so special. So to avoid any cold nuisances, keep your home ready.
