Make Space For 'The New' In Home Decor

Make Space For 'The New'
Do you think you need a new home decor? Are you bored with the look of your home or is the 'clutter' that bothers you? Before you go a complete new home decorating spree, clean out your house. Now a days, the rapidly increasing work hours and inversely proportional space at home for furniture has made our homes into dump yards. Generations of useless things accumulate here in peace with no one to challenge them.

If you want to start on new decorations for your home then you must reclaim your home from your unwanted tenants, clutter. As the saying goes, 'a cluttered home makes way for a cluttered mind'. So if you need to get rid of all the 'clutter' from your life, start from your home.

Tips on how to Clean out your House before New Home Decor:

  • Start with one room at a time. Most often there is so chaos in homes that we don't know where to begin the cleaning before going for a new home decor. All busy urban people have naturally adapted to their circumstances by developing this unique tendency to shove things here and stuff thing there. This makes life difficult when you try to make space for new decoration at home. Begin from the smallest room in your house like the kids bedroom or the kitchen.
  • Take a survey of all the things that are there in that room and make note of what is absolutely essential for you. If you have to clean out your house then a lot things have to be thrown out. You have come to terms with this fact that your you have only so much space which is not going to increase; so to make space for new things you have to discard a few old ones.
  • 'Useless' is a subjective word. What is apparently useless to you may be very dear to your kids or spouse. If you kids are reluctant to get rid of there old toys then explain to them that those old toys could bring new found joy into someone's life. Donate them to orphanages along with old blankets, cushion etc before you start on new home decorations.
  • You can have a distress sale for your old furniture before you get a new home decor. Trust me, an old divan next to your new black leather couch is going look very cheap. With the new trend of theme furniture coming in, your old stuff is not going to match with your new home decor. Do not leave an old broken stain glass lampshade next to your exquisite piece of blue pottery, just because your mother-in-law gifted it to you. Don't try to mix and match your old center table with your new sofa. Clean out your house and keep just the basics.

If you want make a genuinely fresh start then follow these simple tips and you will be able to make space for 'the new' in your house.
