Your Own Inexpensive Designer Bathroom - Part II Contemporary Baths
The bathroom is one of the most frequently visited rooms in the house, which is why most people want to invest their time and money in getting it just right. Today baths have moved away from being just a chore, 'do it and get done with it,' kinds. Today it is more elaborate, luxurious and indulging. People go that extra mile to set up their baths and thoroughly enjoy the opulence that comes with it.
Let us focus on modern contemporary baths. This is hitting the market at different levels with chic, svelte decor and faucets. A contemporary bath clearly demarks the bath area from the rest. It is easy to maintain and is not a messy affair. Water strictly remains in the area given and does not loiter. Glass cabinets with Jacuzzi jets are very popular. These fit in a small area and you need not necessarily have a large floor area to house a bath cabinet. If Jacuzzi is not your style, you can go in for a shower. If cabinets do not fit in your budget, you can have a colourful shower curtain in your shower area.
Instead of regular doors, you can go in for double doors or a sliding door. Better still you can have a 'walk-in bathroom,' right through your closet. Speak to your architect and see how best he can fit it in.
Fit in wooden cabinets below the countertops. Keep the countertops free from clutter. Keep bare minimum and store rest in cabinets. Cabinets below countertops help in using space efficiently. For leisure baths you could also place a bathtub. Countertops can be slabs of stone, granite or marble. Have tiles with earth shades. They add a touch of class.
A big mirror running across the stretch of your counter top, lights above will illuminate the room. Maximise natural light by installing a skylight. A skylight in the roofline adds natural light. Decorate your bathroom with green plants to give it a more natural or exotic look. Many plants thrive in a bathroom's warm, steamy environment. Don't leave the walls all blank. Display your favorite framed pictures and artwork. You could also pin up your beach holiday or better still a family holiday picture. You can also put up some personalised bathroom accessories. All those sea shells collected during you last beach holiday can be painted colourfully with glitters and can go up the wall.
If you have the space and if you wish you could install a small entertainment centre in your bathroom. Install a TV alternatively you could also carry a portable music system. Enjoy your favourite music as you take a warm shower. Make your bathroom your own little spa area. Heated towel rails can be fixed to give you a warm wrap up.
Whatever be your style of bathroom, keep in mind to have good plumbing done. This will spare you a lot of leaky mess.
