Sometimes, when the first symptom of bladder cancer appears, the cancer might have already spread to the other parts of the body.
If the cancer has spread to the lungs, it will cause shortness of breath or cough. If it has spread to the liver, it may cause an intense abdominal pain. If it spreads to the bone, it may cause bone pain or fracture.

1. Blood In Urine:
Many women ignore this symptom, as they may relate this to menopause or menstruation. If you find blood in the urine, it is recommended to consult a doctor immediately.

2. UTI-like Symptoms:
Many of the symptoms of bladder cancer might be similar to the symptoms of UTI. This overlap in symptoms might make you think you have got UTI. Hence, even if you get UTI-like symptoms, it is advised to get a medical checkup for this. This is one of the top symptoms of bladder cancer in women.

3. Unexplained Pain:
Pain is highly associated with bladder cancer. This pain can be present in the flank area, abdomen or pelvis. Sometimes, patients can also have pain in their bones, if the cancer has spread to their bones. It is one of the early warning signs of bladder cancer.

4. Decreased Appetite:
Appetite loss is a common cancer symptom, if the cancer is grown or has spread. You may experience weight loss, tiredness or fatigue often.

5. Smoking:
This isn't a symptom, but as per research, about 50% of those diagnosed with bladder cancer are smokers. This is the biggest risk factor for bladder cancer and it has to be stopped immediately to avert consequences.
