Reasons Why You Have Breast Pain
There are several reasons on why you might get breast pain. Read to know what are the reasons for breast pain.
When your breasts get very tender and sore, then it is considered to be very annoying. Generally, it is not a cause for concern.
Breast pain is very common among women. This can include breast tenderness, sharp burning pain as well as tightness in the breast tissue.
Breast pain can range from mild to severe. Post menopausal women can sometimes have breast pain, but breast pain is more common among younger women.

Most of the times, breast pain signals a non-cancerous benign condition and rarely indicates breast cancer. If the unexplained breast pain doesn't go away after one or two menstrual cycles and if it persists after menopause, then it needs to be evaluated by a doctor.
Each type of breast pain is either classified as cyclic or non-cyclic.

1. You're Pregnant:
Sore, tender or swollen breasts are often the first sign of pregnancy. Due to hormones, your breasts can grow faster than your body. As the oestrogen levels increase, they can increase the size of your milk ducts that can cause breast pain and sensitivity. This is one of the reasons for breast pain.

2. Your Bra Is Not Right:
Most of the women, including you and me are wearing the wrong size bra. Poorly fitted bras, abrasive fabrics and stabby underwire are all common causes of breast pain.

3. You Overdid At The Gym:
Due to too many chest presses, your unsupportive bra can leave your chest in serious pain. This can feel like breast pain in some circumstances.

4. You Have An Infection:
Blocked milk ducts, ingrown hair, clogged sweat glands and a bacterial illness can cause localized infections in your breasts. Infections are characterized by redness, swelling and pain that can cause the nipple to leak pus, blood or some form of discharge.

5. Your Taking Birth Control Pill:
Any medication that changes your hormone has the potential to cause breast pain and has a side effect. The common culprit are birth control pills and they can increase oestrogen levels. So, if you have been wondering on why do we get breast pain, this is the reason.

6. You're Breast Feeding:
The growing of breasts during pregnancy can cause a lot of pain. The period of lactation can also cause a lot of pain for you.

7. You Have Had A Breast Trauma:
It is very rare to find any woman who hasn't undergone any trauma to her chest. Getting hit with a ball, caught by a seat belt in a car accident or having a surgical procedure on your breasts are some of the types of trauma that can cause pain on your breasts.

8. You Have Breast Cancer:
This is a very rare form of breast pain. A vast majority of women who come in with breast cancer do not have breast pain, but this can be a reason for your breast pain.

9. You're PMSing:
The most common cause of breast pain is the hormone change that comes along with your periods. The normal body response that occurs for the change in hormone is swelling and tenderness of the breasts.

10. You're Taking Too Much Coffee:
While coffee and tea might not cause breast pain, studies have shown that cutting out caffeine can help alleviate discomfort, especially for women with fibrocystic breast tissue. This is one of the reasons for breast pain.
